Gran Enemigo Gualtallary Single Vineyard 2019

Description

Score: 100 pts Robert Parker – 100 pts James Suckling

It is not common for a wine to receive a perfect score from two of the most respected critics in the world. But that is exactly what happened with Gran Enemigo Gualtallary 2019, which was awarded 100 points by both Robert Parker and James Suckling. Don’t miss the opportunity to taste the magic of this incredible vintage.

“The incredibly subtle, elegant and austere Gran Enemigo Gualtallary Single Vineyard 2019 reminds me of a great vintage of Lafleur, my favorite Bordeaux, as this is one of the finest vintages for this single-vineyard blend of Cabernet Franc with 15% Malbec. It develops very slowly in the glass and shows layer upon layer of aromas, yet always in a very subtle way. It also recalls the fabulous 2013 that I scored 100 points in 2018, and since then there hasn’t been such a perfect vintage. It has great balance and a silky palate, with refined, elegant tannins and a long, dry finish with a chalky, salty sensation and no trace of sweetness; it’s more about herbs, flowers and rocks than anything else. They produced 9,000 bottles of this beauty. It was bottled in July 2020.” — Luis Gutiérrez, The Wine Advocate – Robert Parker

Catena Zapata Adrianna Vineyard River Malbec 2021

Description

Score: 100 pts Robert Parker – Wine Advocate

Adrianna Vineyard River Malbec 2021 is one of the purest and most exclusive expressions from Bodega Catena Zapata, sourced from the historic “River” parcel within the Adrianna Vineyard in Gualtallary, Tupungato, at 1,366 meters above sea level. This small plot of just 2.6 hectares, completely covered with oval white stones of alluvial origin — an ancient riverbed — gives the wine a unique mineral character.

“Malbecs from stony soils tend to be extremely aromatic, rich and luxurious, and Adrianna’s River Malbec is no exception. It shows intense floral aromas, long and silky tannins, with electric freshness and a metallic, mineral texture that makes it vibrant and highly complex. It is a wine that can be enjoyed in its youth or evolve for decades in the bottle.” — Wine Advocate

Gran Enemigo Single Vineyard Gualtallary 2013

Description

Score: 100 pts Robert Parker – Wine Advocate

“I was really looking forward to tasting the 2013 Gran Enemigo Gualtallary Single Vineyard, since all of the previous vintages have been truly exceptional, and I wanted to see how it would show in a cooler year. The wine contains around 15% Malbec in the blend, fermented in 500-liter oak barrels with 50% of the Cabernet Franc and all of the Malbec, and then aged in used foudres. It is very intense and powerful, but at the same time it has a lightness on the palate that makes it agile, with great inner energy. Its citrus acidity makes it effervescent and electric, with very healthy parameters: 7.5 g of acidity and a pH of 3.45. Over time, a spicy character appears that is reminiscent of Chinon and also evokes one of my favorite Bordeaux, Lafleur from Pomerol. It is undoubtedly world-class and well worth cellaring, as it will continue to develop complexity in bottle. One of those wines where the only improvement I can imagine is having it in magnum rather than bottle. Bravo!” — Robert Parker, Wine Advocate

Zuccardi Finca Piedra Infinita Gravascal 2021

Description

Score: 100 pts Robert Parker – The Wine Advocate

Finca Piedra Infinita Gravascal 2021 is an oenological masterpiece crafted by Sebastián Zuccardi, made from a tiny parcel of just 0.73 hectares within the iconic Piedra Infinita vineyard, in the heart of Paraje Altamira, Uco Valley. This wine precisely embodies Zuccardi’s pursuit of expressing the purest identity of the Mendoza terroir, sourced from a soil where Malbec roots intertwine with gravel and granite rocks coated in limestone.

“A wine of astonishing clarity and depth. With aromas of violets, graphite, dried herbs and fresh black fruit, it opens in precise layers that reveal its stony origin. On the palate, it is firm, elegant and vibrant, with filigreed tannins and a mineral tension that travels across the whole palate. A mountain Malbec that combines energy, purity and sophistication in every sip. A global benchmark for Argentine wine.” — Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate
