Gran Enemigo Cabernet Franc Los Chacayes Single Vineyard 2021

Description

Score: 100 pts Jeb Dunnuck – 96 pts Robert Parker

“The Gran Enemigo Cabernet Franc Los Chacayes Single Vineyard 2021 is, quite simply, one of those ‘wow’ wines that almost defies description. The incredible perfume of violets and white pepper is the first invitation, followed by precise and complex layers of cassis and redcurrant. Then comes the tension and a jolt of acidity that brings length, grace and structure. But it is the 20 to 30 years of cellaring potential that ultimately puts a halo around this wine and speaks most clearly of its greatness.” — Jeb Dunnuck.

“Gran Enemigo Chacayes Single Vineyard is a Cabernet Franc blend with 15% Malbec co-planted in the vineyard. It comes from younger vines than those in the classic zones, as these vineyards were planted in 2004 in the Las Viñas de Mendoza complex at 1,100 meters above sea level. It fermented with indigenous yeasts, 50% whole clusters and was aged in old oak foudres.” — Luis Gutiérrez, The Wine Advocate – Robert Parker

Gran Enemigo Gualtallary Single Vineyard 2019

Description

Score: 100 pts Robert Parker – 100 pts James Suckling

It is not common for a wine to receive a perfect score from two of the world’s most respected critics, yet that is exactly what happened with Gran Enemigo Gualtallary 2019, which earned 100 points from both Robert Parker and James Suckling. Don’t miss the chance to experience the magic of this remarkable vintage.

“The incredibly subtle, elegant and austere Gran Enemigo Gualtallary Single Vineyard 2019 reminds me of a great vintage of Lafleur, my favorite Bordeaux, as this is one of the finest vintages for this single-vineyard blend of Cabernet Franc with 15% Malbec. It develops very slowly in the glass and shows layer upon layer of aromas, yet always in a very subtle way. It also recalls the fabulous 2013, which I scored 100 points in 2018, and since then there has not been such a perfect vintage. It has great balance and a silky palate, with refined, elegant tannins and a long, dry finish with a chalky, saline feel and no sense of sweetness; it’s all about herbs, flowers and rocks rather than fruit. They produced 9,000 bottles of this beauty. It was bottled in July 2020.” — Luis Gutiérrez, The Wine Advocate – Robert Parker

Catena Zapata Adrianna Vineyard River Malbec 2021

Description

Score: 100 pts Robert Parker – Wine Advocate

Adrianna Vineyard River Malbec 2021 is one of the purest and most exclusive expressions from Bodega Catena Zapata, sourced from the historic “River” parcel within the Adrianna Vineyard in Gualtallary, Tupungato, at 1,366 meters above sea level. This tiny 2.6-hectare plot, entirely covered by oval white stones of alluvial origin — an ancient riverbed — gives the wine an unmatched mineral character.

“Malbecs from stony soils tend to be extremely aromatic, rich and luxurious, and Adrianna’s River Malbec is no exception. It shows intense floral aromas, long and silky tannins, with electric freshness and a metallic, mineral texture that makes it vibrant and highly complex. It is a wine that can be enjoyed in its youth or evolve for decades in the bottle.” — Wine Advocate

Zuccardi Finca Piedra Infinita Supercal 2020

Description

Score: 100 pts Jeb Dunnuck

Finca Piedra Infinita Supercal 2020 is one of the most precise and transcendent expressions of Sebastián Zuccardi’s work in Paraje Altamira. Sourced from a tiny 0.93-hectare parcel located in the most westerly and stony sector of the Piedra Infinita vineyard, this wine is born from a unique soil where the surface is pure stone covered by an extraordinarily rich layer of calcareous material.

“A Malbec of monumental purity, with millimetric precision and unique depth. Aromas of fresh black fruits, wild flowers, mountain herbs and a strong mineral imprint. On the palate it is tense, vertical and razor-sharp, with vibrant energy, chalky texture and an endless finish that speaks clearly of its exceptional origin. A world-class wine, destined to become a benchmark for Argentine Malbec.” — Jeb Dunnuck
